Biography

 

Professor Perera is a well-known academic and practitioner in the field of systems modelling and simulation. Companies from manufacturing, food and healthcare sectors have sought his expertise to develop simulation based solutions.  His clients include BAE SYSTEMS, Caterpillar, Bosch and Sweden Post, Anglo Beef Processors (ABP), Fosters Bakery and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, He has received funding from UK Research Councils and industry to investigate both fundamental and application related issues of simulation. An example of this is the work with BAE SYSTEMS to develop a framework for deploying simulation technologies across the design and manufacture of airframes. His current research work focuses on use of simulation in lean projects and novel applications in healthcare, food, logistics and supply chain sectors. Professor Perera has BSc(Hons) Mechanical Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and PhD from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland
